Tammy Miller grew up in a small town north of Lakota named Brocket. Her parents were in the lumber and hardware business, owning a business called Miller Shopping Center on the Prairie, which was situated outside of Brocket. As children, the Millers all worked there. That’s where her second amendment beliefs came from.

Tammy Miller grew up cleaning toilets and stocking shelves at the family business – she even defended the store from robbers with her shotgun. She is a CPA and started her career in public accounting. Tammy later joined a small electrical distribution company and worked her way up to become its CEO – creating thousands of jobs along the way. North Dakota voters have shown a clear preference for outsiders and business leaders from President Donald Trump to Governor Burgum. Miller would continue this tradition of leadership.

Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller has announced that she will seek to replace her current boss, Gov. Doug Burgum. Miller will seek the North Dakota Republican Party's nomination for the office. Her campaign website, which was live before her announcement this morning, lays out an agenda that includes eliminating North Dakota's income tax and protecting "American innovation, parents’ rights, girls’ sports and the 2nd amendment."
